If you insist on listening to spirits, be prepared to take what they say with a small Siberian salt mine, or maybe even a large one.
This may come as shock, but not all spirits are truthful, and a great many think it's hilarious to mislead gullible humans. kitsune, tanuki, and mujina specifically, but most yôkai in general enjoy that particular pastime.
Even when they are truthful, they're not omniscient. They tend to be focused on a particular subject.
Their pronouncements can generally be trusted when they speak about their area of expertise, but get them outside that area and it's anybody's guess as to the accuracy of their information.
And speaking of being focused, their agenda is almost always non-human. So answers given may or may not be applicable, or even healthy for humans to apply.
So when it comes to listening to those voices in your head, caveat emptor defintely applies.
