Legend for Diacritic Marks

Note: due to the difficulty in properly displaying non-Latin diacritic marks with Western European (ISO) encoding, when a letter should be modifed by a diacritic it will be shown unmodified followed by the modifying diacritic code – i.e. "u[b]" is the letter u modified with the breve diacritic.

List of diacritic codes:

  • ' - apostrophe modifying the preceding consonant

  • [a] - letter modifying c[h]a[a]rka / acute accent ´

  • [b] - letter modifying breve

  • [c] - letter modifying cedilla

  • [d] - letter modifying dot above

  • [g] - letter modifying grave accent `

  • [h] - letter modifying ha[a]c[h]ek / caron

  • [m] - letter modifying macron

  • [o] - letter modifying ogonek

  • [s] - letter modifying short solidus overlay

  • [u] - letter modifying umlaut / dieresis
